Data Economy

Organization, Innovation and Regulation

Research project at HEC Lausanne, funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation

Digitization, and the internet in specific, are associated with firm productivity, innovation, employment, and economic growth. Moving forward, data will play an increasingly important role in the digital economy. Data is the key input factor in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) technologies that are expected to enable valuable innovation, either by increasing efficiency, expanding existing markets, or serving new markets. In this project we will study how data can be used to achieve innovation, how firms organize around data and AI and ML, and we will evaluate governmental regulation concerning data.
